Washington Hiking Trails

Washington hiking trails take you through the beauty of the Pacific Northwest including the coastal area as well as the interior area of Washington State. One of the easiest of the Washington hiking trails is the Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve. This is a year round hiking trail that is located just 10 miles east of Seattle. Seattle is one of the most beautiful states in the United States and even hiking around Seattle and the islands off of Puget Sound can be adventurous.

The Hazel Wolf Wetlands is a preserve that is the home to many creatures including the Bald Eagle. If you are a birdwatcher as well as a hiker, you will enjoy the Washington hiking trails as you will be able to spot a multitude of birds in this area. The trails do not permit bicycles but do permit horses on a certain path. You will not feel as though you are so secluded in this part of the world as there are houses that are located throughout the trails in what is known as the Windsor Green neighborhood. There are many scattered paths that you can follow through the Hazel Wolf Wetlands that lead you through over small creeks and over wooden bridges.

If you are looking for more difficult Washington hiking trails, take a look at Mount Defiance. Just the name seems to say it all. One of the trails located in the Mount Defiance area is the Mason Lake Trail. This will take you through a very thick forest. If you enjoy the woods and hiking through wooded areas, you will enjoy this part of the country. If you have a portable water filter with you, bring it. There is plenty of water to drink along the way but it needs to be filtered to eliminate the risk of infection. The water seems cool and clear as well. The trails located around Mount Defiance are a bit more difficult because they involve more climbing, but they are also very picturesque. You can see the Kulla Kulla lakes when you visit this part of the country and enjoy your hiking

Another more difficult of the Washington hiking trails is the Mount Si hiking trails. These trails are for those who want to eventually climb as well as hike and the elevation change in the trails is nearly 4,000 feet. The trails are open from spring to fall and closed in the winter and the area is located just on the outskirts of North Bend. Mount Si hiking trails are considered to be training for climbers so be prepared to wear the proper climbing shoes, carry a light backpack and make sure that you take emergency provisions with you. At Mount Si you will find every challenge, including the Haystack which is a bunch of steep rocks to climb. Bring plenty of water as you are going to be tired out although there is great tranquility in the forest areas of the hike as well. There are many trails that you can take at Mount Si, which is one of the most exciting of all of the Washington hiking trails.
